What a great post Andrew.

A wonderful example of how certain conversations are too complicated. If we simply said what we meant or needed first hand - how much more efficient would our days become, in our personal and professional lives?

As Catherine suggested, half of the key is in formulating your question appropriately, with having regard for the person you are seeking information from as well as yourself.

Great response there Catherine - indeed the question is the catalyst for the conversation, and it sets the tone!

Age proofing is a great headline, it's sure to attract all us baby boomers.

My comment on desire is, if one's desire (or appetite) for life is quenched, attending to the rest becomes increasing difficult.

A desire to live doesn't equate to living with vitality, which makes recovery from critical illness a challenge. The desire (or will) to live can be all encompassing, but attention to diet, exercise and striking a balance of work and play, enhances your desire for life.

Nice post ...

@Julie Wise
Julie, I am sure this would be a great topic about how we can be present - understanding how WE work is an important part of self-awareness and confidence when dealing with other people. So, what happens on the days when your left + right brain are not speaking to each other?

And yes, relationships can be seen as complex, BUT they don't have to be; focusing on the 2 parties involved should be enough to set things on the right path! :-)

@Tony Hollingsworth
I'm glad to hear it Tony - You're too good a man to waste, and from your tweets over this weekend it's clear to see you're getting SO MUCH MORE out of the bike than you could have imagined. Wednesday sounds good - will be in touch! (btw if anyone else on here wants to tee up a cycle one day, let me know!) :-)

@Allan Dickinson
Allan, thanks VERY much for your comments on this and sharing your background with us - I think even if it's not in the genes, it certainly helps if it's 'in the family'! You've obviously made it part of your everyday life and we can see that shine through both in Robin's comments AND your continued ability to coach/play Hockey!

Did you have such a guiding influence from your parents, or were you the first to 'just do it' and do it every day?

@Robin Dickinson
Hi Robin - YES, it should be a part of who you are and not something 'extra' you do! It's amazing how many people forget that they used to run around all day every day without so much as caring they were getting 'exercise' - then they get old(er) and think it's something different :-) Thanks for your comments!
